[00:00:00] Welcome to the average nineties GAL podcast. Join me as I share my own journeys through life, how I got and continue to get through them, as well as real stories from real people in this crazy world. Let's get through it together.
Hello and welcome, Meredith here, and this is episode three of the Average nineties GAL podcast. Thank you so much for being here and for listening. So every Sunday I am going to do a very short. Quick episode and what I am in my head calling the Sunday snacks episodes. Uh, we'll see if that sticks or not, but this is a little Sunday snack for you and a little chewable, you know, to take you into the week.[00:01:00]
So these are going to just be short episodes that I hope will take you into the upcoming week with some ideas, any tools, anything that you can try that will hopefully take you closer to the person you want to become, the future self, the person you know you already are, and. This one is going to be about what I like to call future 15, and that is 15 minutes every day to work on your future self and not the self that you are now, but the self that.
You know, you already are the self that is in the future, hence future 15. And those 15 minutes can be absolutely anything that you want it to be. It can be a walk, a workout, a bath, a quick nap or rest. [00:02:00] Read a book, listen to a podcast, write, meditate, cook. Dance. Oh my gosh, I love dance breaks. And to just put that in your calendar, if you are so busy that you need to remind yourself that you need a dance break in your living room, then please do it.
It is the best. And little side note, I do that with my son. He's older now and it's not, he's just too cool for me. But when he was younger, we would have dance breaks and. Dance parties in our living room when he just needed to shake things out. He struggled with anxiety for a long time when he was younger, and I needed it too.
And it was also a great way just in for anyone who has little ones and you need an extra little shake out routine before bedtime. Dance party breaks before getting into the bath is the [00:03:00] best, by the way, or whenever you want them, but. It really worked for my son and as I just said, they worked for me as well.
It got out the stress of the day. I wasn't stressful, mean mommy at night before bed, just saying, oh my Lord, will you get to bed? So that can be your future. 15 as well. But by yourself and I mean, hey, with your kids as well. Uh, just a little side note that dance breaks, dance parties are fantastic with your kids or with your.
Significant other, I mean, with anybody really. Okay, I digress. Sorry. So anyway, it could be absolutely anything and everything that connects you to who you are and who you want to be, who you're meant to be, all of those things. So for this upcoming week, while you are planning your week or even planning your month, however it is that you go about planning and writing everything into your [00:04:00] calendar, write future 15 to every day on your calendar.
Other than just writing it out because we know that just writing something in your calendar and choosing a time sometimes doesn't even work because you haven't committed to it yet. So really plan what it is that you are going to do, even if that means in your brain, give yourself three things that you are going to do when you see that future 15 in your calendar.
And I mean, really plan it out in your calendar as well. Don't just pick a time and then say. Every day because that's not gonna work either. Really plan it out as part of your daily calendar. So in between work, taking kids to school, planning something for work, going out with friends, really plan each day and fit that future 15 into it.
Trust me, it's only 15 [00:05:00] minutes, and I know we say that all the time. It's only this. It's only that. And then you look at something and you go, eh. I'm not gonna do it. I just don't wanna, I don't have to do that. Right? Well, what about your future self? Do it for that person and that person will be so glad that you did really truly decide.
Are you going to do some movement during that time? Look at your day, maybe movement isn't going to work. At the time that you fit it into at that actual day, maybe reading is the best thing for that day. Looking at everything else you're doing, perhaps listen, just listening to a podcast perhaps. Like I said, just walking, it doesn't matter.
All that matters is that it's for you. All of it should be for you, and that's it. That's all you have to do. So I [00:06:00] hope you do it. I hope you try it out. And please feel free to tag me. Uh, I am now on Instagram connected to this podcast, so please tag me and say, doing my my Future 15. I will be doing that as well.
So I hope to see you there and I hope that it helps you as you move into your week. So. Thank you so much for listening, and I will see you next week.
