Hello and welcome to the average nineties GAL podcast. I am so glad you are here. I truly appreciate you and I would love to hear from you as well.

I mean, you know, four stars. And if you do think it's garbage, just. Don't listen that. Uh, seriously though, thank you so much for listening and continuing to listen.
You are truly appreciated. Okay. For this little Sunday snack, I am just going to quickly talk about how to find adventure in your everyday, and when I say adventure, I don't mean skydiving. Or climbing Mount Everest. But of course, if that is something that you want to do, please do it. I've been skydiving and it is awesome and amazing and fun, but of course not for [00:02:00] everyone.
But adventure does not have to be some massive Grand Rand goal that you have to train for, that you have to spend a lot of money on. Adventure, especially today, can be just a little thing that you haven't done before or a little thing that just changes things up a bit. Because let's face it, we are in a comfort crisis, and I got that term from the book by Michael Easter, the Comfort Crisis.
If you ever wanna check it out, it's a great book and it's one that really makes you think. About how comfortable we are today and how we really need to get out of our comfort zones. We as humans are not meant to be sitting in our homes and just comfortable all the time. We are not meant to [00:03:00] do that. And this doesn't, doesn't even mean just movement or anything like that.
It just means. We have to push ourselves every now and then to feel as if we are living our lives to the fullest and pushing ourselves, once again, doesn't have to be exercise or something strenuous, but we can push ourselves to just do something new and different and push ourselves to finish something, to have a goal.
To complete it. That in itself is an adventure, but there are ways that we can bring adventure into our own lives on a daily basis. So I'm just going to go through a couple of ideas that I hope will spark something leading into the week, and then [00:04:00] clearly as always, into any other future weeks and months.
It's something that I've been trying to do as well, and I've even been trying to do something spontaneous every month or every two weeks to just say, Hey, let's go do this, and I'll bring my son with me and we'll just go on a day trip and just out of nowhere and spontaneously do something that is an adventure.
An adventure is just finding something new. Okay, so a few ideas to just get the adventure juices flowing. One can be when you are driving to work or picking up kids or doing anything that you do all the time where you take the same route. How [00:05:00] about taking a different route? Go another way. Come back another way.
If you go to a restaurant that you go to all the time, take a different route. It's as easy as that. If you love to go on walks, are you always taking the same route on your walk? Try a different route, go somewhere new. Try a trail. Go and find a park that you usually never go to or one. You've never been to at all and walk in that park.
But if it's just going out of your front door, go a different way. Just try it. Try it this week to just do that, and that can be the first step towards your little mini adventure. Another idea is to have little micro adventures that you create. And this could be just finding [00:06:00] local. Experiences, local restaurants or anything that, once again, you just have never done before, that you've never gone to before, or food you've never tried before.
If you're in an area where you never really venture out to other towns or cities decide to have a micro adventure Saturday or Sunday. Where you just go to a local town, maybe one that's even right next to you that you really have never explored before, and just explore that town. Don't make reservations.
Just drive through. See what it's all about. Park, walk around, get out. Go into the local shops. Go into the local restaurants and just check it out. Kind of get lost in that little town or that city. Then maybe for a month, [00:07:00] every weekend you decide to check out a town nearby that you've never been to before.
That is an adventure. That is your little exploration. Become Dora the Explorer. No, I'm kidding. Also, if you feel as if in your own city or town, or if you live in a rural area that you feel as if you still don't really know. Where you live that you really realize that you are in the same pocket, the same area all the time.
Well venture out into your own town. What is it that you don't know about your town, which once again, parks, have you never been to restaurants? But then also, are there any great little experiences that you can go to? Is there a pottery place or a. A gallery that has art lessons or is there a [00:08:00] gallery that you can go to that you've never been to before?
In the town that I live in, there's actually a gallery right around the corner from me that I have never been into, which is just really silly. I can walk there in three minutes, so that's something on my list that I wanna do. Another idea is to. Once again, find a, find a class, sign up for a class or a workshop, a cooking class, even a, you know, if you've never done kickboxing or Pilates or boxing or any kind of class, actually, it doesn't have to be any of those, of course, but if there's something that you've always wanted to do and you've been afraid to do it, then sign up for that class.
Is it something that you drive by all the time and you're. Always intrigued, then sign up for it or just walk in and talk to somebody and ask questions. And that leads to the next [00:09:00] idea. Get to know people in your city or town who people who live around you talk to strangers. Just connect with people. And that's the other part about having a class and joining a class that you've never done before.
Who knows the kind of people you are going to meet. You may meet your next best friend or someone who you connect with, because we know also as adults, it's everywhere that it is really hard to make friends. As an adult. This is one of the ways that you could do that to just put yourself out there. Get out of the comfort zone, of course, but it is an adventure within itself to just talk to new people, get to know new people.
And if you're the type of person who has a hard time talking to strangers or a hard time talking to new people, that's okay. [00:10:00] Obviously, if that makes you really uncomfortable, don't do it. But I would say just stepping through a door you've never been through. That is probably going outside your comfort zone, which is amazing.
That is a wonderful way to start, and maybe you don't wanna talk to anybody. Hey, that is totally fine. I know I have days where I do not wanna talk to anyone, and then the next day I want to speak to every single person I meet, and I am lonely and I just need to talk to people, so you never know. Another is to, to really now obviously in a safe way, but to get lost in places.
I mentioned this before in another episode where I said, when was the last time you to get lost and [00:11:00] not use the GPS? But that is an adventure to just. Turn off the GPS and just start driving and bring in the spontaneity with that, especially if you have kids and a partner, boyfriend, girlfriend, it doesn't matter, but, or call your friends or just by yourself.
Just hop in the car or hop on a train and just say, I don't know where I'm going, but I'm just going to go. I'm going to let whatever feeling I have guide me, and that's an adventure. You may not realize it, but that's an adventure. Just changing little things throughout your life and throughout your day really just shakes things up within you and outside of you.[00:12:00]
And who knows what will happen when you do that, amazing things might happen that just come to you and spark something in you and makes you excited that. All adventure is really about, that is why people seek adventure. Why we love adventure and exploring. It's because of the new, it's because of what we may find, what may happen within us and around us and with the people we love and the people we're around, and it's just exciting.
And you may not think that just taking a new route to work or. To target may be a big deal, but who knows? You may drive past or walk past something you've never seen before, and it's a store that you look into the window and you go, oh wow. Why have I never seen this [00:13:00] before? You never know. Or a restaurant with food you've always wanted to try.
That's an adventure too if you have never tried certain food. I suggest finding a local restaurant or a restaurant in a few towns over, or travel, travel to that place where you wanna try that food and you're really, really curious about that culture and just immerse yourself into that culture. Get yourself out of that bubble if you feel.
You are inside this bubble that you've never burst, that you've never left. If you have never left the country that you're in. Imagine what would happen if you just went to another country. If you're in the United States, just go to another state, travel to another state. So this is my invitation to you [00:14:00] to find adventure every day.
I would also suggest maybe once a month really planning, or at least circling a whole weekend on your calendar to say, this is when I'm gonna go somewhere else. This month I'm going to go camping on this weekend. I am going to travel to the beach or to the mountains, or to a city that I've never been in.
I'm gonna go to Disneyland. Just decide to go once a month on some little mini trip. And if you have a place that you've been wanting to save your money to, to travel to or something that you just really wanna do and sign yourself up for, that costs a bit of money, do that. Make that a goal. 'cause once again, we need to get out of this comfort crisis that we're all in [00:15:00] and find adventure.
And you never know what's gonna happen. So I hope you have an amazing week and that this helps you in some way, get out of your comfort zone a little bit and find some adventure. So here's to adventuring and exploring. Thank you so much as always, and I will talk to you soon. Bye-bye.
